
Neil Nitin Mukesh Chand Mathur famously known as Neil Nitin Mukesh is a Bollywood actor. Born on 15th Janurary 1982 Neil is the son of famous singer Nitin Mukesh and grandson of celebrated yesteryear singer Mukesh. He was born in Mumbai and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar gave him his name. He did his schooling from Greenlawns School in Mumbai and did his bachelor’s degree in Communications from HR Collge in Mumbai. Before joining movies he did a workshop at Anupum Kher’s Film institute.
Many few people know that Neil Nitin Mukesh was a child artist and acted in the movies Vijay and Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni. Neil got many offers to make his Bollywood debut but he insisted on not doing a lover story for his movie debut and waited till the year 2007 when he finally made his debut with the movie Johnny Gaddaar. The movie which was an action thriller did not do well at the box office but Neil won good reviews for his acting. His next Bollywood Venture was Aa Dekhen Zara opposite Bipasha Basu. The movie did not work its magic on the box office and was termed as a flop. He did his second 2009 movie when he starred in Yash Raj Films New York opposite John Abraham and Katrina Kaif. The movie based on the after effects of 9/11 incident won rave reviews from the critics and also went on to become a super hit at the box office. Neil along with all co-stars won great reviews from the critics and also got a Filmfare nomination for the best supporting actor. His third movie in 2009 was Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail, based on the life of prisoners. The movie did not do well at the box office. In the year 2010 he worked in another Yash Raj production Lafangey Parindey. It was Neil’s chance to make a name for himself as a solo hero but the movie failed miserably at the box office and also got bad reviews from critics. Neil suffered the most as most critics rated his act as the most disappointing part in the movie.
After the failure of Lafangey Parindey, Neil’s next venture was the Priyanka Chopra Starrer 7 Khoon Maaf. Neil for his brief part in the movie was highly appreciated and won great reviews from the critics. The movie didn’t do too well but it received a standing ovation at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival. His next upcoming movies include Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, Players and Pocketmaar. His movie Tera Kya Hoga Jhonny was slated to release in 2010 but the movie was delayed due to getting leaked on Youtube. The makers of the film have filed the FIR and police authorities are investigating the claims.
Neil Nitin Mukesh was involved in a controversy when he blasted fellow actors Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan for joking about his lack of surname at the Filmfare Awards, Neil found their humor offensive and termed it unprofessional and absurd. Neil is a close friend of actor Ranbir Kapoor and considers Ranbir’s dad Rishi Kapoor as his own father. Apart from acting he has also worked as an assistant in Aditya Chopra’s movie Mujhe Dosti karoge which was directed by Kunal Kohli and starred Hritik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor in leading roles.
