When we hear the name
Shahrukh Khan there is only one word that comes to mind i.e. The Baadshah of bollywood or as some might say The King of Bollywood. There is not a single thing that has not been heard, seen or written about this charismatic superstar. He is arguably the biggest superstar of the cinema world (include Hollywood). From kids to grows, from young girls to ladies everyone loves him. He is the ultimate romantic hero and will go down in history as probably the best ever romantic hero. His style, his presence, his energy and his charisma are there for everyone to see and applaud. When he made his debut in 1992 nobody would have ever imagined that kind of success he has achieved, not only nationally but internationally too.
Shahrukh Khan made his debut with the movie Deewana opposite the late Divya Bharti and
Rishi Kapoor. The movie was a box office hit and it enabled Shahrukh to win his first Filmfare award for the best male debut. In 1993, he starred in two back to back blockbusters Dar and Baazigar. He won the Filmfare best actor award for his performance in Baazigar and a Filmfare nomination for the Best performance in a negative role for Dar. His next Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa also fetched him a Filmfare Critics award for the best Actor. In 1994, he won the Filmfare Award for best performance in a negative role.
In 1995, his movie Karan Arjun became a smash hit and his second release of the year was the humongous blockbuster and till date the longest running movie of all time Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenga, for which he won the Filmfare award for best actor yet again. More hits and success followed in the shape of Chaahat, Koyla, Yes Boss, Pardes, Dil To Pagal hai for which he yet again won the Filmfare award for best actor, Dil Se and Kuch Kuch hota hai which was another movie for which he got rewarded with a Filmfare best actor award. In 2000, he starred in Aditya Chopra’s second directorial venture for which he won the Critics best actor award. In 2003, he worked in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas opposite Madhuri and

The year 2004 was another fruitful year for Shahrukh as his movies Main Hoon Na, Veer Zaara and Swades all were super duper blockbuster. He won the best actors award for the umpteenth time for his subtle and mature performance in Swades. In 2006, he acted in Farhan Akhter’s version of Don: The Chase begins which was a remake of the yesteryear hit movie.
Over the years many people blamed him for doing similar kind of roles and never getting out of his comfort zone, but he proved them all wrong with his 2007 sports based movie Chak De! India. The movie directed by Shamit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra became a smash hit and Shahrukh playing the role of a women’s hockey team coach broke his romantic hero image with a terrific off beat performance. He was rewarded with a Filmfare award for best actor for his skilled acting in Chak De! India. In the same year his home production directed by Farah Khan Om Shanti Om released and the movie turned out to be the biggest hit of the year.
More success followed with blockbusters like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite
Anushka Sharma. In this movie too Shahrukh played the role of a simple, office going Punjabi man who goes through a makeover to impress his disinterested wife. In 2010 he starred in Karan Johar’s successful and highly acclaimed movie My Name is Khan in which he played the role of a Muslim guy living in American who suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome. This was Shahrukh Khan’s most challenging role till date and he performed it with such flawlessness that left many people craving for more. He quite deservedly won the best actors award at Filmfare awards and all major award functions.
