
Sohail Khan born on 20th December 1970 is a Bollywood producer, director, screenwriter and actor. He is the younger brother of Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan and son of yesteryear screenwriter Salim Khan. The famous item girl / actress of yesteryear Helen is his step mother. He has two sisters Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan.
Sohail Khan started his career as a producer and director with the movie Auzaar which was released in 1997 and had Salman Khan, Sanjay Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty in the lead roles. The movie was not rated well at the box office. In 1998, he produced and directed yet another Salman Khan movie titled Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya opposite Kajol. In 1999, he directed and produced both his brothers Salman and Arbaaz in the brainless and spineless comedy Hello Brother which flopped badly at the box office.
Sohail made his acting debut in 2002 when he wrote, produced and directed the movie Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. The movie flopped at the ticket window and gave Sohail khan a bad start to his acting career. In 2004, he played the role of Karan Rana in the movie Lakeer – Forbidden Line which also starred Sunny Deol, John Abraham, Sunil Shetty and Nauheed. The movie which had a gripping and intense storyline went on to become a moderate success at the box office, but critics hailed Sohail Khan’s performance and said he performed a lot better than he did in his debut. His second movie of 2004 was I - Proud to Be an Indian which was a movie based on racism. The movie didn’t do too well at the box office but Sohail khan got rewarded with good reviews. His third movie of year 2004 was the Horror movie Krishna Cottage opposite Esha Kopikar. This was another flop movie and the critics badly criticized the movie and the actors associated with it.
In 2005, he produced and acted in the romantic comedy Maine Pyar Kyun Kya staring Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Katrina Kaif. The movie turned out to be a bit hit and gave Sohail Khan his first successful movie as an actor. His role of an irritating and over the top neighbor also fetched him good reviews. In 2006, both his movies Aryan and Fight Club bombed at the box office and left his acting career hanging by a thread. Salam-E-Ishq his only release of the year 2007 also didn’t impress the audience much, though Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in which he had a guest appearance did manage to become a blockbuster.
The start of year 2008 proved no different as first movie God Tusi Great Ho which was a remake of Hollywood flick Bruce Almighty albeit a very week one also flopped badly at the box office. His next movie in 2008 was the movie Heroes became a decent hit at the box office but more importantly the movie was hailed by the critics and Sohail Khan too won great accolades for his acting. The movie was nominated for a Filmfare award for best story. His third movie of the year was Hello which was an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel One Night at the Call Center. The movie was not a big hit at the box office but received mixed reviews from the critics. Some critics hailed the concept and others citing poor scripting as the biggest drawback of the film.
In 2009, his movies i.e. Team-The Force, Kisaan, Main aur Mrs Khanna and Do Knot Disturb all failed miserably at the box office. His last movie was the 2010 Salman Khan and Zareen Khan starrer Veer, which also flopped at the ticket window. Sohail Khan is married to Seema and together they have two sons
