In 2003, she won critical acclaim for her work in the movie Mein Madhuri Dixit
banna chahti hoon. The movie turned out to be the super hit of the year because it was the tribute to Madhuri Dixit as she played the role of a girl who is inspired by Madhuri and tried to make her mark in the movie industry. In the same year she also worked in the movie Darna Mana Hai, which was compilation of six different stories.
In 2004 she starred in two movies Gayab with Tushar Kapoor and Naach with Abhishek Bachan. Both the movies did not turn out to be hits but her role of an aspiring Choreographer in Naach won her many accolades. It was her first directorial venture, after that she put an end to her acting career.
She made a comeback in the movie “And once again” Which released in 2010. The movie was much talked about because of Antara going bald for her role in this movie. She barred a completely deglamorised look unlike some of her earlier movies.
As Antara Mali has always been a very private person who likes to stay away from the limelight, on June 12 2009 Antara tied the knot with Che Kurrien who is the editor of the famous GQ Magazine in an underground ceremony. In 2010 Antara decided to make abandoned women as a subject for her research as she stated that things like this inspires her. She is planning to make a movie on this subject.
She has talent in abundance, and the perfect example of this is when the Legendary Amitabh Bachan called her up in person and applauded her performance after watching the movie Company. She is not the typical attention seeking bollywood actress as her maturity and character is recognized by all. After a humble start to the critical acclaim to quitting movies all together it’s been a roller coaster ride. And everyone in the industry hopes to see this fiery talented girl in more quality cinema.
