Archana Puran Singh is a famous television host and actress of Punjabi origin. She was born in March 26th 1962 in dehradun India and did her schooling from there too. She belonged to a middle class family and at the age of eighteen she came to Bombay to make her mark in the film & television industry. She has been in the television and film industry since 1982 and is one of the most senior actresses. She has mainly done comic roles and hosted comedy shows like Comedy Circus, and Comedy ka Maha Muqabala.

She started her career by doing Ad films where she became known for her Band Aid advertisement after which her real talent was recognized and she was offered roles in television serials. She made her bollywood breakthrough in 1987 in the movie Jalwa where she starred opposite Naseeruddin Shah. Her first major role was in the super movie Raja Hindustani, where she played the evil mom of Karishma Kapoor. Since then she was mainly done supporting roles in many bollywood movies Mohabattein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Masti, Shola Aur Shabnam, Raja Hindustani, Krrish, Love Story 2050 and the recently released Luv Ka The End. The character of Ms. Braganza in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai became really famous. She also won the Star Screen Award & Filmfare award for Best Comedian for her role in Kuch Kuch Hota hai.

Her early television days saw her host a bollywood gossip show called “Wah Kya Scene hai” on Zee TV, which followed by another hit show called uncensored. What followed was a host of comedy shows like Jane Bhi Do Yaaron, Archana Talkies & Shrimaan Shrimati. She also hosted talk shows featuring esteemed guests. In 2005 she took part in the reality dance show Nach Baliye where she was paired opposite her husband Parmeet Sethi, where they got eliminated in the sixth round. In 2006 she got the honor of hosting another dance reality show called Jhalak Dikhla jaa’s first season. She also featured together with her husband in the show Kaho Na Yaar Hai.

Archana Puran Singh is married to actor & director Parmeet Sethi, with whom she has two children. Archana is known for her bold statements and her outrageously loud laughter. During her time as the judge of Comedy Circus series she has been used as a subject by many contestants. She has been a mentor to many aspiring young comedians while being the judge of comedy circus.

Archana is a powerful performer in television and movies, but off late she has been typecast in the flirtatious and seductive roles. Although comedy is her forte but everyone realizes the fact that if given a meaty and powerful role, she can do justice to it too as seen in her earlier movies like Raja Hindustani & Bade Dilwale, where she played Sunil Shetty’s greedy wife.
