The famous bollywood star Asin Thottumkal is well known for her eminent career in films, modeling and theater. She was born on 26th October 1985 in Kochi, Indian state of Kerala. Her schooling was carried out at Naval Public School till her 10th grade. Afterwards she studied at St. Teresa’s School, Kochi. She did graduation from St. Teresa’s College for Women, Kochi which was affiliated with MG University. Asin’s father, Joseph Thottumkal was a business man, whereas her mother Seline Thottumkal was a surgeon. She made her debut with a Malayalam film title “Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka” which released in 2001, when she was just 15 years old. After getting through her education commitments, she reappeared on silver screen in 2003, when she performed in the Telugu film titled Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. That film brought her the Best Telgu Actress Award by Filmfare. Her following project was also another Telgu film “Shivamani” and again she was awarded for Best Actress for her performance. Afterwards she appeared in two other Telgu films, Gharshana and Lakshmi Narasimha.

She had her debut for Tamil film. Jayam Ravi was performing opposite her in this movie. The movie received huge appreciation and went super hit. Chakram was her next Telugu film, following Ullam Ketkumae directed by Jeeva. The film was another huge hit at the box office.

While her film Ullam Ketkumae was released successfully, she performed leading roles in some other Tamil films as well, this includes Majaa, Ghajini, Varalaru and Sivakasi. Among all these films, Ghajini was the blockbuster of the year 2005, to raise her career at its peak. The film won Best Actress Award for Asin by Filmfare Tamil Awards. In 2006, her action comedy Varalaru was released. She performed in Pokkiri that was released in the following year; the film was an action thriller.

Asin’s debut in bollywood was “Ghajini” in 2008, which was the remake of her Tamil film. Amir Khan was co-starring her in Ghajini. The film achieved a remarkable success at the box office. She won the Best Female Debut Award by Filmfare, on her fabulous performance in the movie. Ghajifni earned the fourth highest record business in the history. Asin performed in London Dreams by Vipul Shah later, opposite Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan. She was playing a band member in this movie. The was no big success in her career since many of her scenes in the movie were cut short. Consequently, she started to refuse various offers for bollywood films, among these offers, the film De Dana Dan by Priyadarshan, Katrik Calling Katrik by Farhan Akhtar, Delhi-6, Khailain Ham Jee Jaan Say by Ashutosh Gowariker are included.

Asin opted to perform in Tamil film Kaavalan afterwards. It was relased in January 2011. The film was successful commercially as well as critically. Her next project was pairing her with Salman Khan in the movie “Ready” which was released in June 2011. The film was a huge success for her career and was another record grossing film at the box office. Asin is performing in Housefull 2 by Sajid Khan currently. Akshay Kumar is playing opposite her in the movie. In her upcoming projects, she will be performing in Bol Bachchan by Rohit Shetty, the movie will be released in August 2011.
