Bipasha Basu born on 7th January 1979 is a former model and present day bollywood actress of Bengali Origin. Before joining the bollywood fraternity she was a top model and she also won a Super model contest in the year 1996. She was born in New Delhi but later her family shifted to Kolkata.

Bipasha made her bollywood breakthrough in Abbas Mustan’s thriller Ajnabee starring Bobby Deol, Akshay Kumar & Kareena Kapoor. The movie went on to become a hit and It was a negative role which got her noticed in the industry. She bagged the Filmfare Best Debut Female award for it. In the year 2002 Bipasha featured in Vikram Bhatt’s horror flick Raaz which was produced by Mahesh Bhatt. Raaz turned out to be a huge blockbuster, and Bipasha received numerous nominations for the best Actress. It was an out and out Bipasha Basu show and her acting for a major factor behind the success of the movie. In 2003 she got probably the strongest role of her life when she was paired against John Abraham in the erotic thriller Jism. This again was a negative role which gave her the Filmfare Best Performance in a Negative role award. After Jism Bipasha Basu had become a rage and the leading sex symbol of the bollywood industry. In the year 2005 she starred in the super hit comedy No Entry alongside Salman Khan & Anil Kapoor. It was her first major comic role.

In 2006 she featured in the year’s hottest item song Beedi in the movie Omkara. The song went on to become a rage and it further cemented her status as the Darling of the masses. Year 2006 also saw her take part in the Dhoom franchise. She played the character of a female Police officer alongside Abhishek Bachan, Aishwarya Rai, & Hritik Roshan in Dhoom 2. Dhoom 2 turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of the year.

Her next big break came when she was paired opposite Saif Ali Khan in 2008 thriller Race directed by duo Abbas Mustan. The movie also starred Akshay Khana, Anil Kapoor & Katrina Kaif. The film achieved blockbuster status at the box office. Renowned film critic Taran Adarash described her work in Race as the best performance by Bipasha to date. Next came Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor, in which she has a small but a strong role. Though it was only a cameo role she won rave reviews for her performance, and her chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor was the highlight of the movie.

At the end of the year she appeared in the song Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Bipasha Basu has been in a relationship with the bollywood hunk John Abraham since 2002. They are referred to as the hottest couple in the film fraternity. In 2005 together they featured in a fitness video named Bollywood Bodies, which was based on fitness tips and exercises. In 2005 & 2007 a UK based Magazine declared her the “Sexiest Woman in Asia” Apart from movies she has was also seen in music videos of Sonu Nigam’s album Kismat & Jay Sean’s song Stolen. Since the time she did her first movie Ajnabee it has been a known fact that she has had problems with Kareena Kapoor. Both the actresses have gone on record to say that they don’t get along with each other.

Her Recent releases Lamhaa, Akrosh & Dum Maro Dum were not successful at the box office but there is no doubt that this Begali Beauty will make a powerful comeback sooner rather than later.
