Esha Deol Biography

Esha Deol
Esha Deol born on 2nd November 1982 is a bollywood actress and the daughter of famous actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini. She was brought up in Mumbai, and her full name is Esha Dharmendra Deol. She is the elder sister of two and her younger sister’s name is Ahana. Esha Deol is also the step sister of actors Sunny and Bobby Deol. Her mother is a Madrasi and her father a Punjabi, which enables her to communicate in Tamil & Punjabi efficiently.

Her acting career kicked off with the movie Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe alongside Aftab Shivdasani. Esha Deol won the Filmfare award for Best Debut female. Her next movie Na Tum Jaano Na Hum alongside Saif Ali Khan and Hritik Roshan was her chance to steal the limelight, but unfortunately for Esha the movie was out rightly rejected by the audience and in the end it was a box office dud.

Her next five to six movies did not work its magic on the box office and it left Esha needing a hit desperately. Year 2004 proved to her most successful year as movies like Yuva alongside Abhishek Bachan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberai and Dhoom opposite Abhishek Bachan, Uday Chopra and John Abraham turned out to be record breaking Blockbusters at the box office.

In 2005 she acted in Karan Johar’s Multi starrer thriller flick Kaal opposite John Abraham, Vivek Oberai and Lara Dutta. The movie was a horror/thriller and although it wasn’t a smash hit it did win a lot of critical appreciation, and Esha Deol got good reviews for her intense acting. In the same year she did an out and out comedy in the shape of Boney Kapoor’s No Entry which also included Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Fardeen Khan. This movie also turned out to be a smash hit and although Esha did not have much scope in it, she got a much deserved hit under her belt. Another 2005 Multi starrer Dus featuring Esha Deol, Abhishek Bachan, Sunjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Diya Mirza, Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty was her next assignment. This action movie based on the terrorist network also turned out to be a box office success and with it Esha Deol got her third mega hit on the year.

The next few films did not turn out to be too fruitful for Esha as all her movies bombed at the box office. Her 2007 movie alongside Fardeen Khan & Isha Kopikar in which Esha played the role of a cruel and unforgiving spirit won her a lot of positive reviews. It was considered to be the most challenging role of her entire movie career which she carried out with perfection and it was widely expected to be the turning point in her career.

Since her last bollywood release in 2008, she has taken a break from films, but she is to make a comeback later this year with her home production Tell Me O Khuda directed by her mother Hema Malini and Mayur Puri which also starts Arjan Bajwa, Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra & Rishi Kapoor. She along with her mother, father and brothers promoted the movie aggressively during the just concluded IIFA awards in Toronto. Other then this she has three more movies lined for release in the shape of Chai Garam, Ghost Ghost Na Raha and Kaanch – The Broken Glass.

Esha Deol has also made cameo appearance on television when she guest starred in the hit TV show Baa Bahu Aur Baby. She has also been the guest in the talk show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal and Koffee with Karan.
