Gauri Karnik is an Indian actress of Marathi origin. She was born in Maharashtra on 20th December 1977. Her father has a dairy business while her mother is a teacher. She studied in St Xavier’s college and graduated with an economics degree. Before taking the big step in movies Gauri became a model. She has participated in Miss India contest. She also acted is many commercial on TV. She has enacted in a lot of theatre and TV before joining the film industry.

Gauri Karnik’s first bollywood break came in the shape of the musical movie Sur. It was an offbeat based on music which also had singer and actor Lucky Ali as her co-star. The movie was hailed by critics and all the big wigs of the bollywood industry and Gauri Karnik in particular won rave reviews for her natural acting style. Gauri has also worked in Kannada movies and recently acted in the Kannada movie called Kaaranji.

After her first movie Gauri acted in relatively unknown movies and since her last release in 2005 she has disappeared. Many people think that her off beat and natural style of acting is not suited to the hardcore bollywood movies. Gauri did recently made a comeback but this time not on the silver screen; rather she will be seen in the television show Specials @ 10. She will be playing the role of Rewa.
