 profile Hrishita Bhatt is a model and Indian cinema actress. She belongs to a Bengali speaking family and she was born on 10th May 1981 in Mumbai. Since her childhood she received dance training and she was always athletic she helped her stay in shape. She got her education from Trinity College London and her dream was to become a pilot. After her graduation she took Kathak dance lessons from renowned dancer Shamak Davar.

Hrishita Bhatt got her first bollywood break in the Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Asoka. She had a side role in the movie and didn’t get much scope for acting. Her second movie was the musical comedy Dil Vil Pyar Vyar opposite Jimmy Shergill. In the same year 2002 she did her third movie with Abhishek Bachan titled Shararat. The movie was based on old age homes and how elderly people spent their lives there. The movie was received well by the critics but it did not work its magic on the box office.

In 2003 Hrishita Bhatt got the role of a lifetime when she starred in the movie Haasil opposite Jimmy Shergill and Irfan Khan. The movie went to become a Cult movie and was hailed by the critics and film fraternity. Hrishita for her part got a lot of critical acclaim and it proved to be a big turning point in her career. Irfan khan received the Best Actor in negative role award at the Filmfare awards. This particular flick made all the film makers recognize Hrishita not just as a pretty face but an actress you can do quality cinema.

Her success in Haasil paved way for her to get roles in highly acclaimed movies like Ab Tak Chappan and Jigyaasa. In Ab Tak Chappan she shared screen space with Nana Patekar and Yashpal Sharma. This Ram Gopal Verma picture was very well received by the Critics and though Hrishita Bhatt was playing a supporting role, she too like all other cast members won rave reviews for their performance. Her movie Jigyaasa released in March 2006 had a very controversial theme and the movie was loosely based on Indian Actress Mallika Sherawat’s life. This was Hrishita’s first movie where she had the title role and it enabled her to deliver a powerful and competent performance. The movie was not too appreciated by the critics but due to the controversial theme, it was a decent enough success at the box office. This movie was a stern test of her acting skills which she passed in flying colors.

After that Hrishita featured in many movies like Khaffa, Dhara, Aasma, Bad Luck Govind, Dharm, which were all mainly art cinema and that is the kind of cinema in which Hrishita excels and it is where she can express herself fully. In 2007 she also starred in the Pakistani movie Godfather: The Legend Continues with Vinod Khana, Arbaaz Khan, Meera & Ajab Gul. Before she started her acting career Hrishita acted in the music video of Aryans band song “Aankhon Me Tera hi Chehra” opposite Shahid Kapoor. Being the actors were mere teenagers back then. She is also the brand ambassador of Liril and was called the Liril girl who has a cute smile.
