Juhi Chawla born on 13th November 1967 is an actress, host & film producer. Belonging to Ludhiana, she is considered to be one of the most graceful and beautiful actress of her generation. She has been awarded the Miss India title in 1984. She spent her childhood in Ludhiana and did her schooling from there too. She later moved to Mumbai with her family and did her specialization in HR from the Sydenham College in Mumbai. She is also a trained classical singer and also learnt Kathak from her childhood.

Juhi Chawla started her bollywood career with the movie Sultanat which release in the year 1986. Her first solo lead heroine role came in the form of Qayamat se Qayamat tak opposite Amir Khan in 1988. The movie was inspired from Romeo and Juliet albeit a modern version. The movie turned out to be a huge hit and the critics also gave the movie thumps up. It was the start of the journey of two young actors who went on to become super stars of Indian cinema. Juhi was applauded for her screen presence and her maturity. She won the Filmfare New face award and also got nominated for the Best actress award.

In the year 1990 she acted in as many as seven mainstream movies. Pratibandh and Swarg turned out to be major box office hits and for her role in Pratibandh, Juhi was once again nominated for the Best actress at the Filmfare awards. In the year 1992 Juhi Chawla acted in the movie Bol Radha Bol opposite Rishi Kapoor. The movie was well received by the audience and turned out to be another box office success for Juhi. She won rave reviews for her comic timing.

The year 1993 turned out to be another mega successful year for Juhi as she starred in Aaina, Lootere opposite Sunny Deol and Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar ke with Amir Khan. Later that year she bagged a role in Yash Chopra’s love thriller Dar opposite Sunny Deol and Shahrukh Khan. Dar was declared a mega blockbuster and it was another major success in the long list of Juhi Chawla hit movies. For her performance in the romantic comedy Hum Hain Rahe Pyaar Ke she won the Filmfare Best Actress Award.

The next 2 years proved to be dull for the talented actress as majority of her movies flopped at the box office. Movies like Eena Meena Deeka, Andaz, Ghar ki Izzat, Pramaatma, Daajan ka Ghar & The Gentleman did not work out how Juhi wanted them to. In the year 1997 she made a strong comeback when her romantic comedies Ishq, Deewani Mastana & Yes Boss opposite Shahrukh Khan went on to become big hits. Juhi was always known for her comic timing and it was proved further with the success of these movies.

Her 1998 movie Duplicate opposite Shahrukh Khan was expected to take the industry by storm, but unfortunately the movie bombed at the box office denying the Punjabi actress another hit. After staring in quite a few low budget movies that flopped at the box office, Juhi decided to take a break from the mainstream bollywood and instead opted to do Art movies. Some of her critically acclaimed art movies include My brother Nikhil, 7½ Phere and 3 Deewarein.

In 2009 she was casted in Zoya Akhter’s directorial venture Luck by chance. Critics and public both loved her role in the movie and Juhi Chawla won great reviews.

Juhi Chawla got hitched to businessman Jai Mehta. They have two children, a daughter and a song. Juhi and her husband co own the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders alongside Shahrukh khan, and they also have a share in Shahrukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainement.
