profile Kareena Kapoor Nicknamed Bebo is a bollywood actress who was born in Mumbai on the 21st September 1980. She belongs to the famous Kapoor family of the bollywood. She is the younger sister of famous yesteryear actress and her parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita were also film stars.

While her sister was working as an actress Kareena used to be spotted on the sets of movies from a very young age but it was not until the year 2000 that she made her silver screen debut in the movie Refuee alongside Abhishek Bachan. The movie was also Abhishek Bachan’s debut film. Kareena was lined up to make her debut opposite Hritik Roshan in his debut Movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which was directed by his father Rakesh Roshan, but after having shot for the movie for a couple of days Kareena walked out of the movie and later told the media that her reason for doing so was that Hritik was given too much focus and she felt left out. Kareena Kapoor then starred opposite Tushar Kapoor in Satish Kaushik’s Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai in the year 2001. The movie was a simple romantic comedy that won the hearts of the audience and was declared one of the highest grossing films of the year. After her performance in this movie critics hailed her as the “Actress to watch out for” in the future.

Her next assignment was Subhash Ghai’s Love story Yaadein opposite Hritik Roshan and Jacky Shroff. Much of expected of this mega movie, but the movie failed to create its magic on the box office. All was not lost for Kareena as her next movie Ajnabee opposite Akshay Kumar and bobby Deol was declared a big hit. Her next movie was Shahrukh Khan’s home production Asoka, in which she was paired against Shahrukh himself. The Next up was the mega multi starrer Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. The success of this movie is no secret. It’s a well documented fact that the movie was a mega blockbuster, but the fact that the movie aside, Kareena Kapoor’s character of Poo became a sensation. Kareena’s next few movies included Khushi, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Main Prem ki Diwani Hoon, Talaash, Jeena Sirf Mere Liye & LOC Kargil. Majority of these movies did not work on the box office. In 2004 Kareena took the challenge of playing the toughest role of her career in the movie Chameli. Her portrayal of a Call Girl won her many accolades and thus began her journey in the serious cinema of bollywood.

In the next few years she appeared in hit like Yuva, Fida, Aitraaz, Hulchul, and 36 ChinaTown. In 2006 she was offered another challenging and serious role in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Drama film Omkara. The movie was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello. She along with Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberai & Konkana Sen Sharma won brilliant reviews for this movie and Kareena got another well deserved hit under her belt.

But the biggest turning point that put her in the frame of all time great bollywood heroines came in the year 2007 when she starred in Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy Jab We Met opposite her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. This was Kareena Kapoor’s best act to date and the ease and flawlessness with which she performed this role deserve brownie points. Her portrayal as Geet became the highlight of the movie and fetched Kareena Kapoor the Filmfare best actress award.

From Jab we met till this day she has starred in Mega blockbuster like Golmaal Returns, Kambhakt Ishq, 3 Idiots & Golmaal 3. Her most latest release Bodyguard opposite Salman Khan has broken all record in its opening and after just 5 days it’s the biggest hit in the history of Indian Cinema. By the end of 2011 she will be seen in huge films like Shahrukh Khan’s superhero movie Ra.One and Saif Ali Khan’s Agent Vinod.
