Katrina Kaif is a former model and current queen of bollywood film industry who was born on 16th July 1984 in Hong Kong. Her father is an Indian Kashmiri Mohammad Kaif and her mother is a British named Susanna Turcotte.

She started modeling from the early age of fourteen and did many ad campaigns most notably for a Jewelry brand. She also walked the ramp for London Fashion Week.

Her first bollywood break came in 2003 when she was signed for the movie Boom that also featured Javed Jaffri and Amitabh Bachan in pivotal roles. The movie bombed badly at the box office, but Katrina Kaif got noticed because of her unique and stylish looks. In 2005 she starred in her first hit movie Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya opposite Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen. It was not until 2007 and a certain movie titled Namaste London opposite Akshay Kumar when she started getting recognized for her work rather than her looks. This movie proved to be the turning point in her career and her pairing with Akshay Kumar till date is one of the most successful Jodi’s in bollywood. The year 2007 turned out to a majorly successful year as her next three movies Apne opposite Bobby Deol, Partner opposite Salman Khan and Govinda and Welcome opposite Akshay Kumar all proved to be blockbusters.

Year 2008 proved another fruitful year for this beautiful actress as two out of her 3 movies were major box office hits. Her first movie Race Staring Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Khana, Bipasha Basu and Anil Kapoor was her first hit of the year and later second release Singh is King opposite Akshay Kumar was an even bigger hit. Singh is King was one of the highest grossing movies of the year. For Katrina the only blip in this year was the failure of her movie Yuvvraaj opposite alleged boy friend Salman Khan & Anil Kapoor.

Nothing changed in the year 2009 as her first release of the year New York based on the after effects of 9/11 was not only a box office success but it also won great reviews for Katrina’s intense and natural act. Later in the same year she had two more hit in the form of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani opposite bollywood sensation Ranbir Kapoor and the multi starrer comedy De Dana Dan opposite Akshay Kumar.

Her next movie was the box office smash hit and critically acclaimed Raajneeti based on the political situation in India. Once again Katrina Kaif proved that she is not only a pretty but she can act too. Her performance in this movie put in the frame of the top 3 actresses of bollywood. Her next release towards the end of year 2010 was Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan once again opposite Akshay Kumar. Though she did not have much scope in this movie the movie went on to become a major hit. In her act in Tees Maar Khan Katrina Kaif will always be remembered not for her acting but for her Smash hit Item Song “Sheila Ki Jawani”. The song was arguably the biggest hit song of the year and it presented Katrina Kaif in a never seen before Avatar.

In the year 2011 so far she starred in the mega blockbuster Zindagee Na Milegi Dobara opposite Hritik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar & Abhay Deol. Till date this mega starrer is one of the biggest money spinners of the year. Next up for Katrina is Yash Raj Film’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan opposite Imran Khan and Pakistani heartthrob Ali Zafar. She has also done an item number in the recently released Super blockbuster Bodyguard.
