
Lara Dutta born on 16th April 1978 is a former top model, current
bollywood actress and producer. He was born in the small town of Ghaziabad. She has a Punjabi father who is also a retired Wing Commander And a half Indian half English mother. Lara Dutta graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Mumbai.
Lara Dutta won the Miss India universe and Miss Universe pageant in the year 2000 which is the reason that is was chosen to be the UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador.
Lara Dutta got her first
bollywood in the movie Andaaz opposite Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka also made her debut in the same movie. The movie was declared a hit at the box office and Lara Dutta won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Her second
bollywood venture was the movie Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost opposite Abhishek Bachan. Although the movie wasn’t exactly a hit but Lara Dutta was rewarded with good reviews for her portrayal of a small town village girl. Her next movie was the multi starrer comedy Masti featuring Vivek Oberai, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh & Ajay Devgan. The movie was a success at the box office.
Lara Dutta’s next four to five movies did not turn out to be hits, which badly affected her progress. In 2005 she got the chance to work with Karan Johar’s production Kaal opposite Vivek Oberai, John Abraham and Esha Deol. The movie was the first of its kind horror thriller and gave Lara a perfect opportunity to showcase her talent. The movie was a moderate commercial success but Lara Dutta won rave reviews for her intense act. In the same year Lara Dutta’s brainless comedy flick No Entry turned out to be a big hit and it was the first time Lara got the opportunity to do an out and out comedy, and she looked pretty comfortable playing the role of an insecure wife.
In 2007 Lara Dutta had two major releases. Her first release was Yash Raj Films romantic comedy Jhoom Barabar Jhoom opposite Abhishek Bachan, Bobby Deol and Priety Zinta. Much was expected of this star filled movie, but to the surprise of many people the many was a complete box office washout, but Lara Dutta won accolades for her classy performance of the movie. Many critics said that she was the only highlight of the movie. Her next release was the Salman Khan, Govinda and Katrina Kaif starrer Partner, which opened well and was declared a big hit at the box office.
In 2009 Lara Dutta starred in the expensive movie Blue opposite Akshay Kumar and Sunjay Dutt. Lara Dutta refused to do the movie when she was told that he movie will be shot entirely in the sea, as she did not know how to swim, but co-star Akshay Kumar convinced Lara to take up swimming lessons and take part in the movie. The movie was a moderate success at the box office.
Her only release in the year 2010 was the multi starrer comedy Housefull opposite Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Deepika and Arjun Rampal. The movie, as well know was a mega blockbuster. In the year 2011 her first production venture Chalo Dilli released. The movie had Vinay Pathak and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles with Akshay Kumar making a guest appearance. The movie was a commercial and critical success as critics lauded Lara’s acting in the movie.
Lara Dutta’s got engaged to Indian Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi in 2010 September and on 16 Febuary 2011 they tied the knot. Lara Dutta later in august confirmed to the media that she is pregnant with the couple’s first child.
