profile Is there anything that has not been already said and written about the beautiful Madhuri Dixit? We’ll let’s just say one thing out loud that “They don’t make them this beautiful anymore”. Madhuri Shankar Dixit commonly known as Madhuri Dixit is a bollywood actress who ruled the bollywood in the late 80’s to all throughout the 90’s. She is the most amazing dancer to have ever graced the bollywood industry.

Madhuri was born in a Brahmin Marathi family in Mumbai. She did her higher education in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai. Madhuri made her bollywood debut in 1984 with the movie Abodh, the movie flopped miserably at the box office. It was not until 1988 when she landed her first lead role in the super hit movie Tehzaab opposite Anil Kapoor. Her song Aik Do Teen became a rage amongst the audience and that was the first time her true dancing potential was discovered. Her performance in the movie was first grade and it led to her being nominated for the best actress award. Then followed mega hits like Ram Lakhan, Parinda and Tridev which were all major box office successes.

In 1990 she starred alongside Amir Khan in the biggest money spinner of the year titled Dil. The movie was a major success and it led to Madhuri winning her first best actress award for Filmfare. After the success of Dil her career was at an all time high and her star status further cemented with hits like Beta, Khalnayak & Saajan. In 1994 Madhuri was paired opposite Salman Khan in the mega blockbuster Hum Apke Hain Kaun, the movie was the first of its kinds and till date is one of the biggest hits of all time. The movie gave Madhuri her third Filmfare best actress award. In the year 1997 Madhuri finally got the opportunity to work with Indian Cinema’s biggest production house Yash Raj Films in their Romantic love story Dil To Pagal Hai opposite Shahrukh Khan and Karishma Kapoor. The movie was a massive success commercially and won Madhuri her fourth Filmfare award for best actress. After the success of Dil to Pagal hai her career took a minor dip as most of her movies failed to make an impact. In 2000 her act in the movie Pukar got her a Filmfare best actress nomination, and so did the 2001 release Lajja.

In 2003 Madhuri made a comeback in Sanjay Leela Bansali’s highly acclaimed drama film Devdas opposite Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. She played the character of Chandermukhi. Her performance in this blockbuster movie was first grade and it earned her Filmfare best supporting actress award.

After Devdas Madhuri who got married to Dr. Nene in 1999 moved to the USA with her husband and took a long break from bollywood. During this time she brought up her elder son Arin and then gave birth to Raayaan in March 2005. In 2007 Madhuri made a comeback with Yash Raj Films musical Aaja Nachle. The movie did not do too well at the box office, but Madhuri gave a solid performance in her comeback movie and showcased her famous dancing skills to the audience once more.

In 2011 Madhuri returned to India and this time made a comeback to the small screen, when she was selected the Judge of dance reality show Jhalak Dikhalaja 4.
