 profile Mandira Bedi, a renowned Indian model, actress and a television host was born on 15th April, 1972 in Kolkata, India to a family who had its ancestral roots in Indian Punjab. She spent her early days of life in southern Mumbai where she received her early education at Cathedral and John Conon School. She received a graduation degree in economics from St. Xaviers College, Mumbai and a post graduation in Media from Sophia Polytech, Mumbai

Mandira started her debut with television where she performed a leading role in the serial “Shanti” which earned her a great fame. Afterwards Mandira acted in various other serials like “Dushman”, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” and “Aurat”, thereby gaining success from these soap- operas on the small screen.

 However she failed to make a huge splash on the big screen even after having her debut done with Yash Raj’s Blockbuster movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jain ge” Her other Hindi Movies are “Badal”, “Manmadhan”, “Shadi ka laddoo”, “Bali”, “Naam gum jaaye ga”, “Divorce: not between husband and wife”, “Dus Kahaniyan” etc.

Mandira also hosted many television shows which include the “ICC Cricket World Cups of 2003 and 2007”, “the Champions Trophy in 2004 and 2006” and “the IPL season 2 & 3”. She also presented the “ICC Cricket World Cup 2011” for “Times Now”, an English News Channel. Her other shows include “Fame Gurukul” (2005), “Deal ya No Deal”, “Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star”.

One of her show namely “Set Max’s World Cup Cricket Extra Innings” during the 2007 world cup was subjected to much criticism when she wore a saree representing flags of different countries and the Indian flag was nearly touching her feet. As a reaction, a complaint was lodged against her, showing her disrespect towards the Indian flag. She was also criticized for creating a stir when she criticized the Bangladesh’s team, following their defeat against India in 2007.

Due to her active indulgence in cricket shows, she was selected to serve as Brand Ambassador for the Indian Woman’s Cricket team in 2004 and 2005. She also toured with the Woman’s Cricket Team to help them get sponsors.

She also appeared as a judge in the comedy shows namely "Funjabi Chak de" and "Laughter Knights" along with the ex- cricketer Navjot Sidhu.

Mandira also advertised to recommend many brands namely “Dabur”, “Vatika”, “Ebay India”, “Dettol”, “Leher Namkeen”, “South Africa tourism”, and “Asmi Diamonds” etc. She also appeared as magazines cover including “Marie Claire”, “Femina”, “Maxim India” “and Cosmopolitan” and received appreciation for her stunning performances.

Mandira has done more than 150 events for world most leading firms including “Ing Vysya”, “Accenture”, “LG”, “Puma”, “L&T”, “Anand Bazaar Patrika Group”, “BMW”, “Deutsche Bank”  “HSBC”, “ICICI bank”, and “Diage”.

For award ceremonies, she hosted the “MTV Immies”, “The Car and Bike Awards”, 2008 for “NDTV profit”, “The Environment awards for CNN-IBN” in 2009, the 2004 edition of the “ICC awards” and 2 editions of the “Ceat Cricket Ratings Awards” (2004 and 2011) She has also won the “MTV Lycra Style Award” and the “DNA Style Award” for the most stylish person.

Mandira remained the brand ambassador of “Satya Paul Sarees” and the brand ambassador for “Sony Max” for the years between 2004 and 2007. She participated in a summer campaign and did a music video for “Nick” in 2008.

Mandira also acted in theatre where she performed in 2 plays: “Laughing Wild” and "Anything But Love” etc.

Mandira got married with the movie director Raj Kaushal right on the Valentine’s Day on Feb-14-1999. After so many years, the couple made her expected first child’s announcement on January 27, 2011. A baby boy was born to the couple on June 19, 2011 at Lilvati Hospital, Mumbai and was named Vir. The happily married couple is now staying in the outskirts of Bandra, a town of Mumbai.
