
Pooja Bedi, a daughter of international film-star Kabir Bedi, is a former Indian film actress and currently hosting a celebrity talk show, "Pooja on channel Zoom". Also, she writes columns for Times of India, The Week Magazine and Midday Favorite.
Pooja is a daughter of Kabir Bedi and the late classical dancer Protima and was born in May 11, 1970, in the Mumbai, India. She is the 18th descendant of Guru Nanak and has received the Buddhist name, Karma Saraswati, from the Karmapa. Pooja was married with Farhan Furniture walla and changed her name to Noor Jehan. Her daughter name is Aalia, who was born in 1997 and her son's name is Omar, who was born in 2000. In 2002, Pooja and Furniture walla have decided to separate from each other.
Pooja's personal life is full of tragedies. She lost her mother in a landslide in Himalayas and lost her 26-year old brother, who committed suicide.
Pooja completed her primary education at Besant Montessori in Mumbai, India. After that, she was admitted in Lawrence School, Sanawar, for more study. She was a brilliant student and a member of the school's debating team. Also, she joined the school's hockey team, basketball team and swimming team and her performance was good in these games.
Pooja's film career was started in 1991 and ended in 1994. She appeared in many Bollywood movies & campaigns and worked in many T.V. commercials. She became popular after the Kama Sutra condom campaign, which was created to raise awareness of AIDS in the society. Also, she worked in plays including Carry On Papa, Wow What a Girl and A Bengali Jatra.
Pooja entered in the India film industry with Jag Mundhra's movie, Vishkanya. Her most popular movie to date was Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander with the Bollywood star Aamir Khan.
Her other movies include Lootere, Vishkanya, Aatank hi Aatank, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee, Chittemma Mogudu (Telugu) and Shakti.
In addition, Pooja acted as a host on celebrity talk shows since 2004. She hosted 25 episodes of her popular show, Just Pooja, on Zoom TV. Just Pooja show has received many awards. Pooja took part in Jhalak Dikhlaja in 2007 on Sony Entertainment Television, as well as and participated part in Season 3 of Nach Baliye on Star Plus and Colors Channel's Khatron Ke Khiladi. Pooja was a host on the Saturday special episode of Bigg Boss Season 2.
She was a participant in 2010 on Sony TV's "maa exchange," which was the Indian version of "wife swap". Her famous shows as a host include Narayan Infinity, Teachers awards 2006, Teachers awards 2007 and Teachers awards 2009.
Pooja is a column writer for Times of India, The Week Magazine and Midday Favorite. She has written a lot of weekly columns in Times of India, The Weekly Magazine, Midday Favorite, Hidustan Times and Femina. Her most articles were on politics, family and social issues.
In 2010, Pooja has written a book on her mother, the late Protima Bedi, TIMEPASS. The book, published by Penguin, India, was best selling book.
Pooja is very active in welfare activities. She is acting as chairperson for her charitable foundation, The Grassroots Foundation. The foundation is working to address the issues of poverty housing, education, livelihood skills program, water harvesting and farming reforms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Suhel Seth, Shekhar Kapur, Anil Harish and Kabir Bedi are trustees of the foundation.
