Riya Sen’s birth name is Riya Sen Verma. She is known as a famous Bengali model and actress of Indian film Industry. She was born on 24th January 1981.  Belonging to a Bengali family, she is fond of acting since her childhood. Most of her family members belong to this profession including her mother, grandmother and sister. Her father’s name is Bharat Dev Varma and he belongs to one of the royal families of Tripura. Riya grandmothers name is Gayatri Devi. Her mother’s name is Moon Moon Sens. Her Sister Raima Sen is also a famous indian actress. Both of the sisters adopted their surnames from their mother’s grandmother Suchitra Sen. Riyas favorite actors are Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Keanu Reeves. Ashwariya Rai is her favorite actress. She studied in Rani Birla College and currently a student of Loreto House. She also had a great aptitude towards fashion designing. She has done a small course in fashion designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology. Usually she designs the costume of her films and commercials herself.

Riya Sen worked in different music videos. She made her first appearance as a delicate beauty in Falugni Pathuks song “Yaad Piya Ki Annay Lugi”.  After that she was seen in various other music videos as well that includes Sonu Nigams “Jeena hai tere liye” and Shaans “Sutta Maro”. She started her professional career in 1991, where she performed as a child star in a film Vishkanya. After completing her studies she adopted the film industry as her career and gained her very first big achievement with the film Style, released in 2001. Style was a Hindi sex comedy based film which was directed by N Chandra. Though Riya could not give any super hit films except Shaadi No 1 and jhankar beats but she has gained a sex symbol status in the film industry. As In sex symbol status she has always been compared with her mother Moon Moon Sen. She gave many bold scenes in bikini in her film Shaadi No 1. She also kissed her co stars Ashmit Patel in movie Silsilay and Harman Joshi in Style. Besides film Riya has done many Tv commercials that include famous brands Vatika, Reliance industries, Limca and Nirma. Riya has worked as a model for different magazines that include Savvy, Cosmopolitan, Femina and Elle. Riya has always showed an active participation in different Aids awareness programs. She performed in a music video whose basic idea was to clear the wrong myths about AIDs. She has worked in different fund raising shows and raised funds for the pediatrician eye care department.
Beside Bollywood Movies Riya has also performed in Bengali, Telugu and Tamil films. She started off her non Hindi film career by doing a Tamil film “Taj Mahal” which was directed by Bharatis Raja. She was casted with Manjoj Bharatiraja in this film. But the film could not generate good revenues and therefore was a big flop on the Box Office. The other tamil film in which she worked was Good Luck directed by Manoj Bhatnagar and her costar was Prasanth. Again the film could not meet the public’s expectations. She also performed in a Tamil Based item song that was directed by Maharajans Arasatchi.

Riya has done various English films. A Bengali film Ei Brishter Raat which was directed by Mahesh Munjreka was remaked in English Language and was named “It was raining that Night”. Riya performed with her mother Moon Moon Sen in this film. In 2008, Riya Sen was casted with her sister in a Bengali film “The Bachelor” which was directed by Ajai Sinha.
