Biography: Shamita is one of the shetty sisters of bollywood and her elder sister Shilpa Shetty needs no introduction. Although her family hails from Mangalore, shamita was born and brought up in Mumbai. Shamita is a B.com graduate and also has done a diploma course in Fashion Design. Her parents Surendra and Sunanda Shetty run their own business of manufacturing tamper-proof caps for a pharmaceutical industry.

Shamita made her debut in 2000 with the Yaj Raj Film blockbuster Mohabbatein, which was directed by Aditya Chopra.  Post Mohabbatein, she was mostly seen in item numbers, including "Sharara Sharara" in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001) and "Chori Pe Chori" in Saathiya (2002). But her performance in Zeher gave her the much awaited success as an actress. She has also worked once with her sister Shilpa Shetty in Fareb.
