Biography:
Tanisha is the daughter of the late Shomu Mukherjee and Tanuja. She is the younger sister of top actress Kajol and the granddaughter of Shobhana Samarth and niece of Nutan, both well known actresses.
When she was 16 years old, she was offered Shekhar Kapur’ Ta Ra Rum Pum, a film which was never made. She made a splash as a Channel V VJ, hosting the popular countdown show, BPL Oye in 1995 after which she went to Australia to study. On her return, she made a debut in Sssshhh, opposite Dino Morea but the movie failed to create a splash at the box office.
In spite of having acting in her genes, Tanisha has not enjoyed the success of her predecessors. None of her films, barring Sarkar have made a commercial or critical impact.
For her only lead role in Neal ‘n’ Nikki in 2005, she lost oodles of weight and showed off her toned body in minis and bikini tops. In spite of her skin show and her hot scenes with Uday Chopra, the film was a commercial and critical debacle.
Tanisha is fondly called Tich and she dated her Neal n Nikki co-star Uday Chopra for a couple of years before breaking up in late 2007 on allegedly arguments over a pre-nuptial agreement.
