
Twinkle Khanna aka Tina is a renowned name in acting, interior designing and production. She was born in a family that already had a big name in Indian film industry. She is the daughter of veteran actors of film industry. Hence the child star had an innate talent for acting and an opportunity to show her talent on Indian Box-office. She is the wife of Indian actor Akshay Kumar. Now she is an interior designer and co-owner of interior designing store named “White Window”.
She was born on 29th Dec 1974, the same day as her father did 32 years before her, in Pune, Maharashtra, India, the girl was named Tina Jatin Khanna. She was born in a Punjabi and gujrati family. Her father Rajesh Khanna and her mother Dimple Kapadia were renowned names in Indian film industry. She had a sister named Rinkie Khanna and an aunt named Simple Kapadia. Her sister Rinkie Khanna also an actress married an industrialist Sameer Saran and Twinkle married Akshay Kumar in 2001. After her marriage she quit her career as an actress. She gave birth to a baby boy named Aarav Bhatia on 15th Sep 2002, who is a famous child star now days.
Her career can be summarized under three categories as she did her first film “Barsaat” opposite Bobby Deol when she was 21. The film was a hit on Indian box-office. She was renamed Twinkle after this debut. Afterwards she stared in 17 films opposite some of the best stars in Indian film industry like Salman Khan, Govinda, Shahrukh Khan, Amir Khan, Sunjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. She received Film-Fare Best Debut Award for performance in “Barsaat”. She appeared in a Telugu film “Seenu” against Ventakesh and acted as a village Belle in film “Mella”. She gave a string of flops like “Mr. Aashiq” and “Dil Tera Diwana” with Saif Ali khan and “Jaan” and “Itihaas” with Ajay Devgan. In “Jab pyar kisi say hota hai” against Salman khan she did the role of the girl next door and the role of an undercover spy in “Badshah” against Shahrukh Khan her performance was much appreciated by both film viewers and critics. Her films “International khiladi” and “Zulmi” with Akshay Kumar did miserable on the box office. Her last film was “Love Kay Liye Kuch Bhi Krenge” which was an average grosser on Indian Box-office. In 2002, after she quit acting she started interior designing business in partnership with her fast friend Gurlein Manchanda. She opened a store named White Window in Bombay’s Crawford Market. Now she has opened another store elsewhere in Bombay and plans to expand it further. She received Elle Décor International Design Award from Indian edition of Elle Décor Magazine. She did interior designing for the new house of Indian Heroine Rani Mukharji in 2006.
As a producer she has produced three films “Tees Maar Khan” in 2010, “Patiala house” and “Thank you” in 2011.
