All-American beauty Anne Hathaway charmed audiences with her Cinderella role in The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2, making 13-year-olds everywhere idolize her. She did pretty much the same thing in Ella Enchanted, but her next move screamed "I'm grownup, dammit!" Though a minor role, Hathaway's wild cowgirl Lureen in Brokeback Mountain proved that this girl's got chops beyond a musical refrain — and that she'll do nudity if the right film calls for it. Her 2006 starring role in The Devil Wears Prada had her acting opposite hero Meryl Streep, and in 2007, she played Jane Austen opposite James McAvoy in Becoming Jane.


1. Hathaway was reportedly a front-runner for the role of Christine in 2004's The Phantom of the Opera, but her contract with Disney conflicted. The role went to Emmy Rossum and made her a star.
