A precocious kid, Julia Stiles made her acting debut at age 11 with an off-Broadway theater company. She trained at New York's Professional Children's School, got her own agent at age 12 and made her first feature film, I Love You, I Love You Not, with Claire Danes at age 15. She made a splash in 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You and took a crash course in hip-hop dance for Save the Last Dance. Over the years, she's earned the admiration of critics for her work and had a key role in Matt Damon's lucrative Bourne trilogy.


1. She's a feminist and a one-time vegetarian.
2. While a student at Columbia, she caused a campus brouhaha when she insulted the cafeteria ladies on a TV talk show.
3. She's done three modern Shakespeare movies: O, 10 Things I Hate About You (an adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew) and Hamlet, with Ethan Hawke.
