 profile Believed as one of the most recognized and appreciated personalities of his era, Chevy Chase is a renowned comedian. He has not many hits at his credit nor he has achieved a climax else than a single season on Saturday Night Live and few other flicks, but still with his some comedy stuff, he has managed to gain popularity and fame.

Cornelius Crane Chase was born on October 8, 1943 in New York City. He is fondly known as Chevy, the nick his grandmother gave him. He did his bachelor’s in arts (BA) from Bard College.  Chase has been married thrice. He has divorced his first two wives and now he has been married to Jaynie Luke and has three cute daughters.
He began his promising career as a comedy writer. He first delivered his pieces for the Smothers Brothers and National Lampoon.  This gave him a place and a rewarding return.  He gave his first appearance in the movie The Groove Tube in early 70’s. This flick gained him a place in the cast of the first season of the Saturday Night Live.
He also hosted a show, which he wrote as well. He did mimicry of President Gerald Ford in his show also. This show, in which he performed live comedy, gained him popularity. He was awarded two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

Through his intelligence, smartness and humor, Hollywood opened doors for him, and he was on his way to mark his place in the glamorous industry. He starred in Foul Play in late 70’s; Goldie Hawn co-acted with him in the movie.  His brilliant performance has been liked much and he has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his motion picture acting debut in Foul Play.  He appeared in a comedy Caddyshack.  His role in this flick gained him global success and fame.

A huge hit at in which Chase starred was National Lampoon's Vacation. It was an epic series of four hits which included European Vacation, Christmas Vacation and Vegas Vacation. These comic misadventures series was widely critically acclaimed.  
After that, Chase had another hit at his credit. He appeared in a Fletch, which was a comic hit. Chase gave his one of the best performance in this movie and it received commendable appreciation across the globe. He so nicely and immaculately fit in the role and did justice to his character.

Apart from hits, he had some very ordinary movies to his career including Spies like Caddyshack II and Three Amigos!. He was seen in movies such as Nothing But Trouble and Cops and Robbersons. These movies did not help the dwindling repute of the comic hero. His career has few ups and downs. During his acting career he developed a likeness for drugs, and eventually ended at drugs and alcohol. This affected his growing fame and he acted in few very ordinary movies.
 
Later on, Chase chose to work in the movies which were more family oriented and themed like Man of the House. He has worked in many films and has been nominated for some as well.
