1-MINUTE RESUME FOR ORLANDO BLOOM
At 16, Bloom joined London's National Youth Theatre and trained with
the British American Drama Academy on scholarship, gaining the
experience he would use to land British TV roles. It was during one
performance while attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
that director Peter Jackson discovered him and cast him as the elf
Legolas in
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which launched his career and led to roles in such blockbusters as
The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and
Kingdom of Heaven.
5 Things:
1. In 1998, he broke his back falling three stories.
2. He's dyslexic.
3. The man he thought was his father died when he was 4; he later
found out the man who raised him afterwards was his biological father.
4. He's an extreme sports enthusiast.
5. He worked as a clay trapper (skeet shooting) at age 13.
Quote:
"I haven't sold out yet. I don't feel like I've done anything too
cheesy and I'm not in a hurry to make millions and millions of dollars.
I got into this because I wanted to be an actor, not because I wanted
to be famous or a celebrity."
