Henry Warren Beatty was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 30, 1937. His mother, Kathlyn Corinne was a teacher of drama. He has one three year elder sister, Shirley MacLaine, who is a very famous actress and dancer. Both brother and sister rose to the sublime of fame with their awe-inspiring performances and contributions and became the celebrities. Beatty has had romantic relation with many singers, actress and supermodels, including Madonna, Michelle Phillips, Natalie Wood, Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Mary Tyler Moore, Stephanie Seymour and Elle MacPherson. He dated very renowned artists of his era and eventually he married to Annette Bening in 1992 and has four children.
He did his schooling from a high school in Arlington, Virginia. He later attended the Northwestern University. He remained under the coaching of Stella Adler, who polished his acting skills. He was, no doubt a gifted individual with a lot of potential to act and produce, and his later works proved it as well. His first appearance on careen was a television drama, “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis”.
After that he appeared in a successful movie Splendor in the Grass in early sixties, which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Motion Picture Actor. Following this, he appeared in many films and did short roles. Soon he jumped in direction. He went on producing his first film Bonnie and Clyde in late sixties. He acted in his own movie as well. This film turned an energetic and talented actor into a capable and famous film maker. This film was a huge hit and it was acclaimed by the critics. This film has been sent for various awards including Academy Award for best actor and best picture.
Beatty revitalizes the energy of Hollywood industry with his work in 70’s. He made
McCabe & Mrs. Miller and Shampoo, both were acclaimed and Beatty potential emerged and got recognized. In late 70’s he gave an impressive classic movie Heaven Can Wait. Shampoo and Heaven Can Wait gained immense popularity and success. They got nominated for many awards, recognizing and commending the efforts put by Beatty.
These successes allowed and gave him strength to work on another masterpiece. He made Reds, which was about a journalist, John Reed’s experience in Russia during the revolution in Russia. This film was nominated for many awards. Eventually he got an Oscar for best director after getting nominated for many years.
After the success of Reds, he brought Ishtar in late 80’s. It is considered to be one of the greatest disasters of all the times. The movie was not successful and was total flop.
Later he went on producing Dick Tracy in early 90’s. It was a huge success, bestseller and also a highly earning movie of that year. He then produced Love Affair and Town & Country, both of which are box office failures. Town & Country is considered to be one of the biggest collapses of cinema history. He has also worked on few documentaries as well.
