Aamir Khan In lieu of the reportedly heated discussion between Aamir Khan and Javed Akhtar that resulted in Aamir Khan resigning from the HRD committee, the aftermath of the same has been something beyond anyone's' imagination. After Aamir's resignation from the said committee, all of the other members of the forum have come together to write an appeal letter to Kapil Sibal, Ministry of Human Resource Development, stating Aamir to continue on this committee. The letter which has been sent to Sibal comes from the following forum members: Javed Akhtar, Anjum Rajabali, Vishal Bhardwaj, Prasoon Joshi, Saket Chaudhary, Vishal Dadlani and Ram Sampat. The excerpts of the letter are as follows: Dear Sir, It is with serious concern that we learnt this morning of Aamir Khan's resignation from the abovementioned committee and would like to make the following statement in that regard: We firmly believe that not only has the government of India, and your ministry in particular, taken a highly desirable step by initiating much-needed amendments to the Copyright Act, but that setting up a committee of producers and writers, directors and composers was an extremely positive and effective proposal that will address misperceptions and apprehensions on both sides. It is critical therefore that the integrity of this process be protected at all costs. We would like the entire committee as constituted in your presence to continue with its appointed task. We also want to plainly assert that there has never been any doubt about Aamir's intentions in engaging with this process, far less his integrity. And, while we may have differing perceptions and views about copyright issues and the implications of these new amendments, his intention is the same as the rest of us - to work out a proposal that is fair to all parties concerned, and therefore for the Indian film industry. We think that we should now be left in peace to work towards arriving at a uniform understanding of what fair rights are. In short, we would very definitely like Aamir to continue on this committee.
