Cocktail Movie Review
When it comes to romantic love stories, Saif Ali Khan slips in to the character really well and performs with ease. This actor is full of elegance and beauty with trendy cool nature suitable for these characters. We have seen him in movies like DIL CHAHTA HAI, HUM TUM, LOVE AAJ KAL, SALAAM NAMASTE and many others. This movie in question however is of a different sort with a combination of story based on friendship and love. Thus everyone remained curious about what this movie would bring in for audiences.

There were reports that this movie COCKTAIL has brought motivation from Woody Allen's VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA however it is not true. We have seen movies before as well with two heroines and one hero with a love story and thus this one is not a creative subject. We have seen similar plot before as well. The difference in plot here is the blissfulness that three characters in this movie share with each other. They are living together under one roof and something really unimaginable happens. The man here falls for his girlfriend's best friend. This movie again like others faces trouble in the second half of the movie.

This movie features Meera played by Diana Penty who is living with Veronica played by Deepika Padukone. Veronica was dumped by Kunal played by Randeep Hooda. Meera is a typical desi shy girl while Veronica is a crazy girl.

Both of them are completely different but in some time gets to know each other really well. Here comes Gautam played by Saif Ali Khan who is having a hot affair with Veronica and thus stars living with her with no commitments made for future. Meera doesn't like Gautam however unimaginable both of them fall in love with each other.

The first attraction of the movie is that it features a combination of three really different people. Diana is calm and quiet; Deepika is strong and powerful while Saif is wild and outrageous. With three divergent characters, the title of the movie really suits it well. This movie is a cocktail of love, emotions, laughs and lust and there also appears sequence of heartbreak.

This romantic comedy is directed effortlessly by Homi Adajania with different sequences handled really well. This one is a complex movie dealing with complexity of different relationships between people. The major highlights of the movie are three central characters, their styling and visuals of the movie.

The second half of the movie however falls and is seems over stretched. The first hour is enjoyable and fascinating where right notes are carried throughout but the second hour which might appear interesting at first but has too many songs and a stretched story with inconsistent screenplay. The finale of the movie seems sluggish and comes with laziness.

styling of the characters done by Anaita Shroff Adajania is really commendable. All the lead characters of the movie are graced with elegantly designed wardrobes to suit their character and to grab your attention. The wardrobe here would take the fashion trends a step ahead. music album of the movie by Pritam is beautiful with tracks like 'Tumhi Ho Bandhu', 'Daaru Desi' and 'Yaariyaan' already hit on the charts and are pictured brilliantly. Background score by duo Salim Sulaiman is classy and captivating. You will be able to find international feel in the movie with credit of cinematography goes to Anil Mehta. Visuals are beautiful and dialogues are unreal but wicked at some places.

This is the third time after Love Aaj Kal and Aarakshan that Saif and Deepika will be sharing screen together and there seems absolute comfort level between the two actors. Saif suits well in this character with right Delhi flavor in him. His character is quite notable and Saif seems in deep impression here. Deepika here looks amazing and this is surely going to be her best performance throughout her career. She seems a wild character here which she depicts whole heartedly loosing herself in to this character with ease. Her performance is wonderful here.

Diana makes her debut in acting with this difficult character and she has the right kind of innocence that is requirement of her character. She would impress you with her performance. Dimple Kapadia is phenomenal and portrays North Indian lady. Boman Irani is perfect. Randeep Hooda's character doesn't have much meat in the movie.

Overall the movie COCKTAIL would interest you in the first half with amazing performance, songs and style with visuals but the second half is not too exciting as the first hour. The first hour would captivate your attention.

This movie is targeted for youth and characters may seem relatable!
