The title of the movie SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI itself makes it a curious outing for all the audiences looking forward to. There seems to be an interesting love story ahead where there is no six pack hero nor the heroine of the movie is a seductress lady. This love story involves middle age couple love story and the theme of the movie is the prime factor that sets it apart.
There are not many movies made on Parsis but the most interesting one was 1978 Khatta Meetha where the storyteller was Basu Chatterjee. For this movie debutant director Bela Bhansali Sehgal portrays the Parsi community in the most upright manner as they exist in real life.
This year we also have seen movie featuring Parsi characters titled FERRARI KI SAWAARI but SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI is a quite interesting one with its entirely different star cast which makes it most interesting and attractive. This topic is quite universal where there are many people who couldn't find a compatible life partner for themselves. But this theme here is portrayed with Parsi community backdrop and with complete essence of humor.
This movie features Farhad who is a 45 year old Parsi man who is a bachelor and works as a salesman in a lingerie shop. He has never found the love of his life and the only women in his life are his mother and grandmother.
Farhad has not given up hope to find a right partner for himself. One day Shirin a 40 year old bubbly Parsi woman walks in his shop. Farhad realizes that he has found his soul mate in this Parsi trust secretary but their destiny intervenes.
While watching this movie, you will be reminded of beautiful memories of 1978 KHATTA MEETHA but when it comes to story there is no similarity between two. Both the movies have common charm and beauty but theme line is quite different. Directors like Farah Khan and Zoya Akhtar are the ones who have made everlasting and memorable impression through their movies and have entertained audiences of Bollywood town. This time the director behind this movie is the first timer Bela Bhansali Sehgal. This one was a difficult challenge for first timer as the movie features a 40+ couple love story and there are many scenes were they act awkward and are shown at discomfort. Parsis here are not shown in any conventional style and the characters are not misrepresenting the community here. The climax of the story is quite interesting and there is no emotional rona dhona drama here.
Thus you will be completely entertained through this outing and will surely leave with a smile on your face from the cinema hall.
The only deficiency that is observed in this movie is that there is a lot of melodrama but this shortcoming is overcome because of the cute scenes captured between the lead characters of the movie. The movie soundtrack is also quite decent. Whereas the dialogues are concerned, they are witty, smart and fall well according to the overall mood of the movie.
Boman Irani is seen in a variety of different characters for super hit movies like VEER ZAARA, 3 IDIOTS, MUNNABHAI series, WELL DONE ABBA, DON series, EKLAVYA and FERRARI KI SAWAARI. But for this character of Farhad in SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI, he plays a really different character which he has never done before. This character would make him stand out from the rest as he plays a lover boy here. He is a complete delight to watch in the movie and suits the character really well. We can surely term his performance to be flawless and extremely wonderful. No doubt, he is one of the most talented actors of Bollywood town.
The character of Shirin needed someone really bubbly and lively and Farah Khan here is the best choice to suit this role. This is the first time that Farah Khan has attempted acting and she performs this character really well. It seems that this character is made to suit her only and there will be doubts if you consider any other actress for this role.
Daisy Irani and Shammi Aunty are a delight to watch. They both sparkle in their characters for the movie. Kavin Dave and other supporting cast are also ideal choices for their roles.
Overall this movie SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI is a heartfelt, simple but quite entertaining movie. This movie supports the idea that it is never too late to fall in love. Thus this love story doesn't have an expiry date. This movie is a recommended one to watch for entertainment!
