From Sydney With Love Movie Review
We have seen movies that have made their way to the hearts of millions of audiences and are liked even after decades to their release such as DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE. Aditya Chopra is one of those storytellers who have made inspiring movies for all kind of audiences and thus Chopra has remained a focal point for many of the moviemakers. When we look at the history there have many movies by him but DDLJ status could not be passed by any of them.

Movies that are made under the banner of Pramod Chakravorty have won audiences hearts and had been well praised by movie watchers. When we recall those movies, they still maintain a good sight for audiences. This banner celebrates its 50th year in 2012 and this year also marks as the debut of grandson Prateek as a writer, director, producer and actor with this movie called FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE.

This one is a family comedy. In the first hour you may experience some resemblances with the movies KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI and D.D.L.J. but could not match the plotline. In the second hour of the movie there are some signs of resemblance with KYA KEHNA. This movie could not mark the excellence of writing and acting in this movie. Prateek here have worked to achieve the status of a young movie but unfortunately fails to get the desired charm.

This movie is about Meghaa played by Bidita Bag. She is a small town girl from West Bengal. She happens to earn a scholarship from well known University of New South Wales Australia where she wishes to pursue Masters Degree in Economics. She now leaves the protective boundaries of her family and makes her way to the journey of Sydney city. she while in Sydney make new friends including Lubaina, Raj and Suhail played by Evelyn Sharma, Prateek Chakravorty and Karan Sagoo respectively. Love is not her aim but she falls in love with Rohit played by Sharad Malhotra. Rohit is a fellow student with her. Then she comes across an accident that turns life down and she gets back to her home town.

FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE is a movie where Prateek gets to show all his talents. He wrote and directed the movie and at the same time played lead role. He plays central role in the movie however in the second hour you would not be able to see much of him but only in the concluding part. It is however not important to be only lead part of the movie but you need to have the right charm here and this is what is missing here.

Writing here in this movie seems worn out and the dialogues here are also quite shaky. Soundtrack of the movie is given by Sohail Sen and it is quite good. The two tracks in the movie standout from the rest titled 'Chalte Chalte' and 'Ho Jaayega'. Piyush Shah is the DoP here and captures the beautiful location of Sydney.

Sharad Malhotra is the sole main lead in the movie that makes a strong impact here. Second hour of the movie is restricted by his absence. Prateek in this movie is miscast. Bidita carries her character well and her act is passable. Sharma’s character doesn’t get much scope here. Reshmi Ghosh appears in a small role. Karan Sagoo couldn’t express well whereas Veteran Sabyasachi Chakraborty is perfect.

Overall this movie FROM SYDNEY WITH LOVE could not meet the standards.
